2015: THE YEAR OF TRIUMPH;CHRIST EMBASSY

Happy New Year and welcome to 2015; our Year of Triumph. Glory!

At the December 31st Night Service, the man of God, Pastor Chris defined Triumph as a great or important victory, notable success or achievement. Triumph also means to prevail and the successful ending of a struggle; all of which we will experience in 2015!
Expounding further, Pastor Chris revealed that the challenges or crisis of life come from three major sources: the world, the flesh and the devil. However, 2 Corinthians 2:14 says, “Now thanks be unto God which always causes us to triumph….”. The man of God proclaimed that God will divinely position us to triumph always and admonished us to always bear that in mind throughout the year. Reading from John 16:31-32, Romans 8:32-37, 1 Corinthians 15:57, the man of God explained that Christ overcame the world for us, and so we are triumphant over the world, its systems, the flesh and all the weapons of the devil.
We are being led in triumphal procession throughout the year 2015.

T.B. JOSHUA: 2015 IS ‘THE YEAR OF GOOD MORNING’

At a candle light vigil service held to usher in the New Year 2015 at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos, Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua declared 2015 to be ‘the year of good morning’.

In the energetic service broadcast live on Christian television station Emmanuel TV, Joshua admonished congregants on the need to ‘worship God in Spirit’ in a sermon titled, ‘Discovering your real value’.

“Christianity lies in the heart,” he told the multitude of worshippers, adding that merely observing religious ceremonies does not signify genuine Christianity.

The crowds, including a huge array of foreign guests sporadically waving their national flags, thronged every available space within the sprawling church complex, even spilling onto the adjoining roads.

“If you are expecting a New Year, you must be pure in heart,” he stressed, reminding the faithful of Jesus Christ’s words in Matthew 5:8. “If not, the troubled year of 2014 will continue in 2015,” he warned.

Although Joshua uncharacteristically did not give his yearly prediction, his message conveyed that the troubles witnessed worldwide throughout 2014 would persist in 2015 but genuine Christians would grow stronger through them.

“No matter what this coming year brings, if you are more of God, your trials are the soil in which your faith will flourish,” he enjoined the congregation.

FIVE MOST COMMON WAYS CHURCHES DETERMINE PASTORS' SALARIES

One of the most common questions that I am asked is: "How do churches determine the salary of a pastor?"

In this article, I offer the five most common ways churches establish the pay level of a pastor. I am offering these five approaches from an informational perspective rather than evaluating them. Also, many churches use some combination of these factors.

1. The pastor's salary at the previous church. By far, more churches use the pastor's previous salary as benchmark to establish the new salary. For example, if a pastor has an income of $50,000 at his current church, his prospective church may offer him $55,000, or a 10% increase.

2.The previous pastor's salary. The second most common benchmark to determine a pastor's salary is the previous pastor's salary. Allow me to make an editorial comment here. If you are a pastor who has been declining raises for a few years, you could be hurting your church and the next pastor. There could very well be a big gap between your current salary and the compensation needed for the next pastor.

3. Experience. Simply stated, most pastors' salaries increase with increasing years of ministry experience.

4. Education. I have observed this factor decrease in importance over the past 15 years. I don't see nearly as many churches requiring a doctor's degree as they did in the past. And I am seeing fewer churches require a seminary master's degree, though that degree is still important for many churches.

5. Demographics of church. The specific demographics to which I refer are family income levels. I know one church that used the estimated median family income of its congregation as the base to determine the pastor's salary.

BISHOP T.D. JAKES AND PASTOR ROBERT JEFFRESS DIVIDED OVER TEXAS VOTER ID LAW

Two of Texas's most popular megachurch pastors, T.D. Jakes of The Potter's House and Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church, Dallas, reflected dueling positions on the state's controversial voter identification law. Jakes dismissed it as "needless" while Jeffress argued that the law is necessary ahead of Tuesday's mid-term elections.
The Texas legislature passed Senate Bill 14 (SB 14) into law in 2011 in a bid to curb voter fraud. It requires voters seeking to cast their ballots in person to present photo identification, such as a Texas driver's or gun license, a military ID or a passport according to votetexas.gov. The law is described as one of the strictest voter identification laws in the country.

Many Democrats and voting rights advocates have been lobbying against the law charging that it stands to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of particularly minority voters, but last month the Supreme Court, in anorder which was unsigned and without reason, allowed the law to go into effect ahead of next week's election.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, supported by Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, charged in a six-page dissent that the order "risks denying the right to

KIRK FRANKLIN PUTTING ON THE BRAKES ON NEW ALBUM

It has been three years since Gospel music's songwriter, leader and producer Kirk Franklin has released a new album.  Fans who are waiting eagerly for a new album to drop need not hold their breath.
He took to Twitter to reveal some struggles he has been having with thoughts about releasing another album. "Before I start another album or do anything, I'm asking myself 'am I trying to reach to [the] lost, or just become popular among them ...,'" Franklin questioned on Twitter. "Over the years, motives get grey..Is it for HIM or is it for me? Who's name do I want to hear? Will God let a brother share in the glory..?"
He seemed to conclude his public thoughts without confirming his decision to record an album. "If it ain't pure, it ain't happening. #thinkingboutrecording," Franklin tweeted.
In an interview with Christian Post, Franklin refuses to rush the process to make an album. "I am praying through that process right now. [I'm] just praying and asking God to give me what He wants me to do next," Franklin told CP. "So yes, that is on my radar ... not trying to rush it."
For nearly two decades now, Kirk Franklin has been a multi-platinum-selling purveyor of majestic fusions of gospel and contemporary music. His irresistible rhythms and rhapsodies have resulted in albums that consistently top both Billboard's Gospel and Christian charts, as well as ascend triumphantly into the Top 10 of the R&B/Hip Hop chart.

DARLENE ZSCHECH, SUCCESSOR TO MARK DRISCOLL DAVE BRUSKAS & TONY EVANS PRAY FOR THE VICTIMS OF THE MARYSVILLE SHOOTING

The Christian community including Hillsong's matriarch Darlene Zschech, popular author and preacher Tony Evans, successor to Mark Driscoll Dave Bruskas and countless others offer their prayers and support to the victims of the Marysville shooting.  Last Friday, students and staff were evacuated from the Marysville-Pilchuck High School near Seattle in the western state of Washington, after one of its students, identified as Jaylen Fryberg, entered the school cafeteria and began shooting just before 10:30am (local time).
The shooter, a homecoming prince at the school, used a handgun to kill one of the students and wound four others before fatally shooting himself. The shooter was Jaylen Fryberg a popular member of both the wrestling and football teams.
Three of the wounded are in a critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head and are undergoing surgery, chief of medicine at Providence Regional Medical Centre, Joanne Roberts said. The fourth victim suffered less serious injuries and had been transferred to another hospital.

Rebecca Cooley, whose son played sports with Fryberg and was approaching the cafeteria when the shooting erupted, said an altercation broke out on an athletic field following football practice in recent days and that one boy involved was among those shot.
Over social media, the Christian community is reaching out through prayers and support.  Darlene Zschech, who has fronted Hillsong's Worship albums for years and who has penned songs for the megachurch such as "Shout to the Lord" and "Worthy is the Lamb" writes on Twitter: "Praying for all family and friends suffering due to recent shootings in the USA xx lost for adequate words."

VICTORIA OSTEEN CHIDES CRITICS: I DIDN'T MEAN PARISHIONERS SHOULDN'T WORSHIP GOD … THAT'S RIDICULOUS

After weathering a blistering week of scorn and ridicule for controversial comments she made during a worship service at the popular Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, including a declaration that worship is not for God, co-pastor Victoria Osteen now says that's not what she meant and dismissed the notion as "ridiculous."

"While I admit that I could have been more articulate in my remarks, I stand by my point that when we worship God and are obedient to Him we will be better for it," she told The Blaze in a statement Friday. "I did not mean to imply that we don't worship God; that's ridiculous, and only the critics and cynics are interpreting my remarks that way."

She further explained that her congregants at Lakewood Church knew exactly what she meant and there was no confusion among the flock she co-pastors with her New York Times bestselling author husband Joel Osteen.

"Every Lakewood member knows what I was talking about because they have experienced firsthand the joy and victory of a Lakewood Church worship service

POPE FRANCIS BECOMES FIRST POPE TO VISIT PENTECOSTAL CHURCH; CALLS EVANGELICALS HIS 'BROTHERS'

Pope Francis became the first pope to make an official visit to a Pentecostal church, after he flew on Monday to speak at the Evangelical Church of Reconciliation in the southern city of Caserta, Italy. The pontiff apologized for persecution of Pentecostals the Roman Catholic Church was involved with in the past, and reached out with friendship to evangelicals.

"Among those who persecuted and denounced Pentecostals, almost as if they were crazy people trying to ruin the race, there were also Catholics," Francis said, according to The Associated Press, referring to Italy's fascist regime when the Pentecostal practice was forbidden.

"I am the pastor of Catholics, and I ask your forgiveness for those Catholic brothers and sisters who didn't know and were tempted by the devil."

Francis spoke before 350 worshipers at the church and met privately with the Pentecostal preacher Giovanni Traettino.
